Caribbean Motor Racing Championship Vieira aiming to extend dominance in T&T

Having dominated the opening leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) at Jamwest Speedway in Jamaica with a superb display, racing to two wins and a second place from as many starts, Guyana Stephen Vieira is now setting his sights on this weekend’s showdown of the Series at Wallerfield in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T).
Vieira whose performance clearly set the tone for what is expected to be an invigorating year for Superbike racing in the Caribbean speaking with Kaieteur Sport, before departure on Friday said that he is confident of duplicating or even surpassing the feat in Jamaica.
The local speedster, who rode a Kawasaki ZX6R, tore up the field in the opening race in Jamaica, relegating last year’s champion Elliott Vieira to second place, while Jamaica’s Robert McDonald claimed the final spot on the podium.
He came back in the next race to repeat his earlier performance, but this time it was Matthew who finished second and McDonald in the same spot as the previous race.
However, in the final race in the category, Elliott managed to reverse the positions among the two with McDonald again ending in third place.
The former Caribbean champion who now races with a new outfit called Pure Racing was full of praise for team owner Andy Phang and his wife Annalisa for the huge support they have given to him.
However, the biggest commendation was reserved for Continental Agencies under its Sunburst Orange Juice brand which has stood with him for quite a few years, especially Mr. Rakesh Puri and the entire team.
“I want to thank Sunburst Orange Juice for its total support over the years I am grateful to them and is determined to make them proud,” Vieira said.
Special thanks were also extended to Guyana’s No.1 entertainment location Palm Court, Mark Vieira, Paul Yearwood, Vishok Persaud, Seaboard Marine, Navin Seereeram and Raj Boodhoo.
He closed by stating his intention to extend his lead in the Championship and any rider aiming to disrupt his dominance will have to be at their level best to do so.
