Chief Magistrate, Ann Mc Lennan, refused to grant an 18-year-old man bail, for allegedly having narcotics in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The man, Emaka Foster, of Lot 697, ‘C’ Field South, Sophia, pleaded not guilty to having 33 grams of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking, on June 29, last, at Eighth Street Lodge, Georgetown.
When asked by the Magistrate about his occupation, Foster explained, “Mommy I does mek blocks. Me and mah friend been making blocks and the man that does live next door. You know them ways.
“He does sell di drugs on the turf so he see them men coming (police officers) and throw it next to me and them men (police officers) roll up and find it next to me and lock me up, Mommy.”
Foster further stated, “The police lock up me and my friend that was mekin di blocks and then later down in the day I see this man get loose. You know them ways, Mommy.”
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones told the court that police of the Brickdam Station acting on information went to Eighth Street, Lodge where they saw the suspect (Foster). They made contact with him and carried out a search. The search which was conducted in his presence, uncovered a plastic bag containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
Bail was refused and the matter was adjourned to July 13.
