Defending champion BV ‘A’ were sent crashing out of this year’s East Coast Zone Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Futsal Competition after going down to Haslington North in their quarter-final matchup on Friday evening,

Theon Carr’s 10th minute strike simply means that a new champion will be crowned tonight at the same venue which will host the semi-finals and finals.
It also means that North Haslington now setup a showdown with former champion Melanie-A, who squeezed past Golden Grove South 1-0 through a Sherman Fraser 22nd minute goal.
The second semi-final will be between Plaisance ‘B’ and BV ‘B’ following their quarterfinal successes against Nabaclis and Paradise respectively.
Plaisance ‘B’ eased past Nabaclis 2-0 through goals from Vincent Thomas and Chris Cox in the ninth and 20th minutes respectively, while BV ‘B’ needled Paradise 1-0 courtesy of a Threon Petri goal in the third minute.
Earlier, in round of 16 action, Plaisance ‘B’ beat Victoria Church Yard 1-0. Kelvin Bowen netted in the 16th minute.
Company Road All-Stars went down to Paradise 3-2 on penalty kicks after normal and extra time ended 1-1. Lancelot Griffith scored in the 18th for Company Road, while Quincy Adams responded in the 20th minute.
Nabaclis edged Team Diamond 1-0 through a Quincy Juene effort in the 18th minute; BV ‘B’ defeated Young Jiggers 3-2 on sudden death penalty kicks after normal and extra time finished 2-2.
Gerald Whittington and Clifton Bacchus scored for the winners in the seventh and 26th minute respectively, while John Jordan and Stefan Bailey were the players on target in the 16th and 22nd minutes respectively for Young Jiggers.
Melanie ‘A’ beat Portmore United 1-0. William Europe scored in the fourth minute.
BV ‘A’ coasted to a comfortable 3-1 triumph over Bare Root ‘A’ with Akin Curry burying a hat-trick in the 12th, 25th and 26th minute, while an own goal in the 13th minute accounted for Bare Root’s goal..
Golden Grove South upset Melanie ‘B’ 2-1. Deron Skeete and Shamar Kingston netted in the 15th and 17th minutes respectively. On target in the loss was Odel Gulliver in the 18th minute.
North Haslington downed Plaisance-A 3-1. Theon Carr booted in the eighth and 20th minutes, while Sherwin Skeete added in the 19th minute.
Warren Gilkes in the 15th minute strike was the lone response for Plaisance ‘A’.
The winning team will take home the championship trophy and $250,000, while the runners-up, third and fourth placed teams will receive $150,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
