Prohibited stimulant, cocaine land four in court

Three persons who were reportedly caught by undercover police officer selling an illegal stimulant were on Wednesday charged with possession of the prohibited items after they appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

It is alleged that on June 6, at Charlotte Street, Georgetown, Omalo Garraway, 24, of Norton Street, Lodge; Shivano Ubitana, 22, of Princes Street, Lodge and Olivia Grimes, 23, also of Norton Street, Lodge, had 40 amphetamine tablets amounting to 10.5 grams in their possession.
They pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to them by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and were each ordered to post $75,000 bail.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Neville Jeffers told the court that the defendants were caught selling the items by an undercover cop. He said that police received information and conducted a sting operation. As a result, a police rank went undercover and purchased the tablets from the defendants.
They were subsequently told of the offence, arrested and charged.
The prosecutor indicated that the defendants had no antecedents and that an analyst report is still outstanding from the case file.
Magistrate McLennan ordered the trio to return to court on July 5 for reports and fixtures.
Meanwhile, in another case, a 17-year-old minibus conductor was released on $50,000 bail for allegedly having one gram cocaine in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
It is alleged that on June 6, at Fourth Street, Alberttown, Robert Ingram had the prohibited substance in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The teen who resides at 53 Fourth Street, Alberttown, pleaded not guilty to the allegation.
He was represented by attorney Charlene Fung-a-Fat who made a petition for bail.
However, Ingram told the court that he lives alone and is supported by a friend since his mother died and he did not know his father.
Prosecutor Jeffers stated that an analyst report is still outstanding.
Ingram was instructed to report to the Alberttown Police Station every Friday until the completion of the trial.
