A Patentia resident was yesterday jailed for a total of 15 years, after he pleaded guilty to three counts of armed robbery and admitted to having an illegal firearm and ammunition in his possession.
He was taken to the Providence Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Cane juice vendor, Trevor Wilson, confessed to robbing Trevor Blackett, Totaram Baburam and another man of a total of $27,000 between February 3 and February 8, last, at Eccles, East Bank Demerara while he was armed with a gun.
On February 8, Wilson was caught by police with an illegal .32 revolver in his possession. He was also found with three live rounds of matching ammunition.
Magistrate Leron Daly sentenced him to three years jail on each count of armed robbery. Wilson was given another three years sentence on the illegal firearm charge and three years for possession of the ammunition. The sentences will run concurrently.
According to court facts, Wilson held the victims at gunpoint while they were along the Eccles Public Road. Police Inspector, Michael Grant presented the prosecution’s case.
