Georgetown/Mahaicony and Essequibo will face off in the final of the NSSCL Combined Elite League today at Bourda. Both teams registered victories in their respective semi final encounter.
Georgetown/Mahaicony defeated Berbice by 58 runs at Albion Community Centre ground. Batting first, Georgetown-Mahaicony made 181 all out in 47.3 overs on the back of a stylish 74 by Bashkar Yadram. He struck 10 fours and a solitary six, while Joshua Persaud made 48 with four fours; Junior Sinclair bagged 5-33 off 9.3 overs.
In reply, Berbice were bowled out 123 in 40 overs. Alex Algoo made 28; Joshua Persaud claimed 3-16 and Bashkar Yadram 3-24.
Host Essequibo got the better of Upper Demerara-West Demerara by 5 wickets. Upper Demerara-West Demerara batted first and scored 164-5 off 40 overs. Kevin Christian top scored with 38, while Sagar Hetheramani contributed 26. Bowling for Essequibo Combined, Beesham Moses had 2-30 off 8 overs.
Essequibo responded with 162-5 with three overs to spare. Quintin Sampson got 39, Omesh Ramdahin made 34 and Rayon Venture 27 not out.
