Dasraj, called Dan, was acquitted of rape yesterday after a mixed 12-member jury found him not guilty of the offence. According to the allegation Dasraj engaged in sexual activity with a child on July 16, 2011. Dasraj had allegedly engaged in sexual penetration with a 13-year-old female.
The trial was conducted in camera before Justice Navindra Singh at the Georgetown High Court. The case was presented by State Prosecutors Michael Shahoud, Narissa Leander and Siand Dhurjon. The accused was represented by Attorney at Law, Bernard De Santos S.C.
During the trial five witnesses were called to testify. Following hours of deliberation yesterday, the Jury announced a unanimous not guilty verdict.
