Two days later, three people were killed in a motorcycle accident at Annai, Region Nine.
He said that he has been receiving reports that both parents are traveling on motorcycles with one or more of their children.
However, it was a different situation in Annai on Thursday when three people died. It was not a case of two adults and a child on the cycle but it was in fact, three adults.
David Williams was towing his wife, Belinda, and Henry George when he reportedly lost control of the bike and crashed head-on with a vehicle approaching from the opposite direction.
They were flung some distance away from the point of impact and later succumbed. None of the victims were wearing helmets.
In a recent interview, the Traffic Chief said that a motorcycle is made to carry two persons- the rider and pillion rider. “No more than two persons should be on a motorcycle because it can be dangerous.”
He also emphasized the importance of riding with helmets. “Do not ride unless you have proper helmets. In the event of an accident, the helmet will offer some protection.”
Meanwhile, as investigations continue into the accident, this newspaper was told that the driver of the car remains in police custody.
Post mortem examinations are expected to be done soon.
