Office Express with branches in Rose Hall Town and Corriverton, Region 6, Berbice is once again on board with the annual fund raiser of the Young Warriors Cricket Club of Cumberland, East Canje, Berbice – Mash Cup 2016.
The company has provided support for this event from the inception and at the presentation ceremony held recently, Yudesh Armogan, Company Manager said that his business entity is once again happy to be part of this annual event. He said that they believe in giving back to charity that will make a difference in the lives of people. They are impressed with the progress of the club and congratulated Shimron Hetmyer for his elevation to the captain of the current West Indies Under-19 team which has already qualified for the semi finals of the youth World Cup in Bangladesh.
Receiving the hampers, which will be used as gate prizes, was Hubern Evans, Senior Coach who thanked the company for coming on board once again after providing support for every tournament since its inception. He said that despite the challenges faced, the club continues to grow. He called on other businesses and private individuals to follow suit. Evans added that these times it is important to keep youths off the streets and sports is a major way of doing so. He reiterated the club’s motto of “Striving for excellence through cricket and education”.
Evans also took the opportunity to congratulate Shimron Hetmyer and said that he follows in the footstep of Damodar Daesrath who was also once a senior national cricket captain.
Other sponsors on board so far are beverage giants ANSA McAL, Ashiek and Sons Motor Supplies and Auto Sales and Massy Distribution.
This event will form part of Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebration with proceeds going towards further improvements to the club’s facilities and day to day running. In addition, funds will be allocated to three schools in the No19 to Gangaram area.
The tournament will be played on Tuesday February 23, 2016, a national holiday and will involve ten second division teams from the area. It will be five overs a side with no first division cricketer allowed. Top clubs such as Canje Pathfinders, Betsy Ground Triple Stars, Kendall’s Union A, Rose Hall Community Center and the host are expected to take part. Incentives with the value of over $100,000 will be up for grabs along with lots of gate prizes.
