The second round of the BCB Berbice River Bridge 50-Over First Division Knockout Cricket Competition continued last weekend.
Police whipped Young Warriors in their own backyard by 37 runs in a low scoring encounter in brilliant sunshine and a on perfect batting strip.
Police won the toss and took first strike and struggled to 134 all out. Brentnol Woolford top scored with 29 consisting of 2×4 and 1×6. He was supported by Albert Sinclair with 24 (2×4) and Quesi Mickle 23 (1×6).
Bowling for Young Warriors, national youth player Kevin Ramdeen took 3 for 24 off 7.2 overs, national youth all rounder Kassim Khan took 2 for 23 off 9 overs and 16 year old Trevor Stanislaus 2 for 29 off 3 overs.
In reply, Young Warriors crumbled to 97 all out after being well placed at 48 without loss. Former national youth batsman Seon Hetmyer top scored with 26 (1×4 and 2×6). Kassim Khan made 25 (1×4 and 1×6) and national senior opener Shimron Hetmyer 21 (2×4).
Bowling for Police, Rocky Hutson took 3 for 23.
At Albion, the home team destroyed Blairmont by 8 wickets. The visitors won the toss and took first strike. They were bundled out for an embarrassing 60. National under-19 all rounder Balchan Baldeo spun webs around the batsmen with 6 wickets. He was supported by former West Indies under 19 left arm spinner Gudakesh Motie with 3 wickets. In reply, Albion lost just two wickets with sixteen year old Adrian Sukhwa 21 and Baldeo 20 leading the scoring.
The defending champions will now meet with Police at Cumberland or Edinburgh in the only semifinal, while Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets will be host to Port Mourant with the winner drawing bye to the final. Both matches are slated for this Sunday September 13. The final will be played on Sunday September 20, 2015 at a venue to be named.
