President of Starr Computers, Michael Mohan said that while his knowledge of basketball maybe limited, he knows for a fact that the sport is a discipline.
Mohan was speaking briefly during a simple presentation ceremony for the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) ‘King of the Hard Court’ Open and Under-23 Championships at the Starr Computers Conference Room.
“While my knowledge of basketball might not be so good, we all have something in common, which is that basketball is more than a sport but a discipline,” Mohan said.
According to Mohan, his purpose at Starr Computers is to train individuals to become leaders as well as teams to accomplish an objective. In that regard, he informed that his company is pleased to support sports organisation. He said that he will continue to assist in the development of the sports. GABA President, Junior Hercules, during his brief address, said that while the tournament posed several challenges, the Executive was happy to see it concluded.
Hercules said that the anticipation in successfully concluding the tournament was especially high given that it was the first event for the newly elected Executive. In his view, the tournament was of a high quality in both formats.
In the Open Category, Dynas Ravens collected the Championship Trophy after defeating Trinity Grid Holdings (TGH) Pacesetters, the current National Champions. Nevertheless, Pacesetters got the U-23 title after finishing unbeaten.
Ravens’, Ryan Gullen was adjudged MVP in the Open Category while Devon Murray (West Side Ballers), Ryan Stephney (Ravens) and Darian Lewis (Republic Bank Nets) collected the Most Rebounds, Most Assists and Most Steals awards respectively.
Pacesetters’, Nathan Saul bounced away with the U-23 MVP accolade while Travis Belgrave (Eagles) won Most Rebounds, Kelvin Yorrick (Plaisance Guardians) Most Assists, and Keon Evans (Eagles) Most Steals awards respectively.
Each of the divisional winners received a basketball. Ansa McAl, under the Mackeson Brand, Starr Computers, KB Construction and Trophy Stall were the sponsors of the event.
