weekend’s Caribbean Guinness Street Football Challenge Competition, Terrence Chase-Green in an invited comment shortly after the team’s final practice session on Tuesday night was optimistic about their chances of doing well at the event.
The Caribbean tournament which will be played in Jamaica is expected to bring together teams from Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Aruba, Barbados, Haiti, St. Kitts, St. Lucia and Dominica along with first time hosts Jamaica.
Chase-Green in commenting on the team’s preparations said, “We are very confident because everyone has been putting in a lot of hardwork which is the recipe for good results and that is what we are looking for”.
He added that because they’ve not eased off since winning the national final the thoroughness of their preparations has confirmed his confidence that they will do well, especially with the inclusion of two experienced guest players in Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson and Travis ‘Zorro’ Grant, both of who have played with the senior national team and are extremely skilful players.
“Everyone has been coming out on time and working hard and because of the kind of discipline and commitment I’ve seen I have every reason to feel confident.”
Since the competition started four years ago, Guyana ended runners-up on two occasions with Back Circle in the inaugural competition and Queen Street of Tiger Bay in last year’s tournament.
