With the aim of achieving another successful year, the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) will commence its 2015 season with the usual Novice and Junior championships set for the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, tomorrow.
According to the GAPF, tomorrow’s action which will lift off at 10:00hrs following the weigh-in of athletes at 07:00hrs will attract a record turnout of 28 athletes including six women one of who will be 16 year-old Britney Mack.
The average turn out of athletes over the years, especially since the sport returned to a high level of consistency from 2008 would have been between 18 – 22 athletes. The federation is encouraging fans and lovers of the sport to come out and support an exciting group of athletes.
A number of seasoned athletes will also appear as guest lifters tomorrow.
