Lucrative cash prizes as Stag Beer Inter-Village 5-a-side Football kicks off
Sixteen teams will vie for a grand prize of $200,000 when business conglomerate, Ansa McAl, stages the ‘West Side’ Inter Village 5-a-side football tournament at the Vergenoegen Rice Mill Tarmac, this Friday August 15.
Matches will also be played on 20th, 21st, 27th, 29th, 31st and September 7 when the finals would be played. The second place team receives $100,000 while the 3rd and 4th place teams win $75,000 and $25,000 respectively.
“We expect this to be an exciting tournament since not much football is being played on the West Coast and players and fans alike are hungry for some action,” Organiser Colin Aaron said. He further stated that the event is the first of its kind and the fact that fans of those communities are passionate about the sport should translate into a successful event.
Matches would also be played at the Pouderoyen Basketball Court. Interested teams may conform to the registration process by contacting the organizers on telephone #s 670 1947 or 674 5981.
