Confident sports team leaves for Youth Olympics in Nanjing China
Having failed to procure a single medal at the just concluded Glasgow Commonwealth

Games in the United Kingdom less than one month ago, a team of sports personalities comprising 2 swimmers, one athlete and a table tennis player left Guyana yesterday morning for Nanjing China to participate in the Youth Olympics and is confident of better returns.
Those selected for national duty are swimmers Britany van Lange and Hanibal Gaskin, Table Tennis player, Chelsea Edghill and athlete, Jason Yaw.
Shyka Gonsalves travels as the swimming coach while Idi Lewis will accompany Edghill as her coach. Karen DeSouza is the Chef-de-Missión.
The sports representatives convened at the Olympic House, High Street Kingston, yesterday morning shortly before departing to the Cheddie Jagan International Airport, Timerhi.
Guyana first attended this forum in 2010 in Singapore and was represented by Jerome Straker, Chavez Ageday and Henk Lowe. None had procured medals but this batch is confident of bettering the performances of their predecessors.
The Guyanese team comprises athletes benefiting from the “Universality Places” offered to Guyana since last year since no one qualified.
