Accused in drug deal killing to know fate today
Justice William Ramlal is expected to sum up the trial of Herstelling murder accused, Ramsahoi Boodhoo, called ‘Baijie,” today.
On Tuesday, Justice Ramlal overruled a no- case submission which was presented by Defence Attorney, Peter Hugh. Boodhoo 43, of Lot 40 Herstelling Public Road, East Bank Demerara is indicted for the murder of Eon Daniels.
Hugh had suggested that there was insufficient evidence against the accused in regards to the murder which took place on May 8, 2011.
The details of the case suggest that Boodhoo was engaged in a brawl with Daniels over a $500 cocaine debt.
The brawl ended brutally around 01:00 hr that day, with Daniels a drug addict, also from Herstelling being knifed to death.
During Boodhoo’s trial, which is before the Judge and a mixed twelve- member jury, State Prosecutor Dhanika Singh summoned 11 witnesses.
