Almost five years after he was in involved in an accident that left three of his friends dead, 25-year-old Farood Mohamed was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for causing death by dangerous driving.

The ruling was handed by Magistrate Leron Daly at the Providence Magistrate’s Court, yesterday.
Prosecutor Sergeant Shellon Daniels summed up and Daly ruled that there was sufficient evidence against Mohamed to find him guilty of causing death by dangerous driving.
Mohamed of Lot 68 First Street, Covent Garden, wept uncontrollably as he was escorted out of the courtroom, to the holding cell yesterday.
In 2009, the former warehouse supervisor faced three counts of causing the deaths of 19-year-old Asheeki Asgarally, 23 year- old Richard Chinian, and James Sookdeo, 23.
He was driving motorcar PFF 576, around 1:15 am on July 31, 2009, when he lost control of the vehicle, which slammed into a lamp post, on the East Bank Public road, in the vicinity of Providence.
While Mohamed escaped without any life threatening injuries, the accident claimed the lives of his three friends. The boys were reportedly returning home after partying with friends.
