The Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security is conducting a labour market intelligence survey.
The council of Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) which operates under the Ministry of Education and Statistical Unit, and the Ministry of Labour with the technical financial assistance from the Inter American Development Bank (IDB) are conducting a skills needs survey for Guyana.
Field work for this survey is to obtain critical information on skills availability and shortage in key sectors of the country; these include manufacturing, hotel hospitality, construction, engineering, forestry and commercial trade.
A similar survey will also be conducted in the mining sector.
The Ministry of Labour TVET council recognises the importance of the survey to national development. Therefore maximum cooperation from all concerned organisations is appreciated as the survey continues.
The survey commenced on July 10, 2013 and it will conclude on August 31.
