The arrival of Trinidadian karting champion Ravi Singh, who descended to these
shores to challenge the local opposition on Sunday’s Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) Race Meet at the South Dakota Circuit, is causing quite a stir among competitors and fans.
Singh, known more for his car racing exploits here in Guyana where he has dominated the Group 3 category foe a couple of years will this weekend attempt to extend his supremacy in the karting department over his Guyanese counterparts, but word is that fellow racers such as Kevin Jeffrey, Mark Vieira who’re also familiar in the car racing segment along with the veteran Stanley Ming, Shane Ally and Marcus Fiedtkou will not take Singh’s ambition to wrest control of the go-kart category lightly and have vowed to ensure that that doesn’t happen.
It is anticipated to be a mouth watering showdown for regional supremacy among the competitors and fans are being urged to flock the South Dakota Circuit to witness another edition of high class motor racing.
However, even though the battle among the more experienced racers is shaping up to be exhilarating stuff, they will have to pull out all the stops to exceed the expected rivalry between the upcoming young guns who’re boasting about not playing second fiddle to anyone and has promised to produce the excitement and daredevilry that could have fans calling for more.
Among those lined up to take to the starting line include: Elliot Vieira, Matthew Vieira, Mikhail Seereram, Denzel Hopkinson, Raymond Seebarran, Alex Fiedtkou, Matthew and Jonathan Phang and Edward and Alex Powers for the boys, while the girls will be spearheaded by Britney Seereram, Emma Vieira, Stacy and Serena Ming and Alexandria Phang.
Apart from the kart races, fans will also have the opportunity to see the new breed of Super bikers in the ‘B’ class and even this category is shaping up to provide some stunning challenges with current champion Carey Griffith hoping to maintain his dominance, but he is expected to be pressed by Kwame ‘Supa Sic’ Ridley and a host of other competent contenders for the title.
There will also be races for cars in the Rookies and Group 2A categories and that is anticipated to be just as exciting as the other events with the likes of Roshan Ali, Chet Singh, Danny Persaud and Afraz Allie already going at each other verbally.
