The Georgetown Turf Club has fixed their previously scheduled horserace Meet for January 22 at their Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara racetrack weather permitting.
The meet was scheduled during last month, but the weather forced the organisers to reschedule the event.
They are hopeful that good weather persists and allow for the staging for the race meet on January 22.
The racetrack has recently had some works done and are looking to get back into the full flow of racing. Seven races has been planned with the main event seeing H & Lower horses battling over 1200m for a $200,000 first prize.
Other events will see competitors in I & Lower and I3 & Lower race will be vying for 160 thousand and 140 thousand dollars respectively.
The K & J Class race has one hundred and twenty thousand dollars to be won, while the L & Lower race will see riders and their mounts dashing around the Mocha Arcadia racetrack to cover a distance of 1200 meters for a purse of $110,000.
The winner of the Un-classified race will walk away with $100,000. Cart Horses are also expected to compete in the Cart Horse race for an $80,000 first prize.
Further details of the change can be obtained by contacting Nigel James on telephone # 665-5611. Michael Simms, owner of the Mocha racetrack, will be present on race day after being overseas for an extended period.
