Police nab suspect in Sussex Street shooting
Police have detained a 37-year-old deportee in connection with the attempted murder of a Sussex Street resident, three months ago.
An official said that Jomo Odinga Mc Donald, also know as ‘George’ or ‘Yankee,’ was arrested yesterday morning in Charlotte Street.
Police had issued a wanted bulletin for Mc Donald in October. It stated that he was wanted for attempted murder and gave his address as Lot 17 Lyng Street, Charlestown.
Kaieteur News understands that Mc Donald has been implicated in the shooting in September of Richard Daniels in Sussex Street.
There are reports that the incident stemmed from an earlier altercation at a party.
According to reports, Daniels, who is also a deportee, was in a yard when he became involved in an argument with another man.
Daniels was reportedly heard shouting “Shoot meh nuh…shoot meh nuh”, shortly before a shot rang out.
A woman recounted seeing a man running from the yard.
Two of the wounded man’s friend pursued the suspect but failed to apprehend him. They then returned to the scene and took Daniels to hospital.
