Men’s 35 action heats up as Adams, Grant and Lopes post easy wins
Play in the Pegasus Tennis Open continued on Sunday with victories for Carlos Adams, Rudy Grant and Andre Lopes, who all posted easy wins over Steve David Longe, Mario Niamatalli and Albert Madramootoo respectively in the Men’s 35 Singles category.
Adams was in good form as he effectively kept Longe out of the game with good placement on his groundstrokes and finished off on the volleys. Lopes was similarly dominant against Madramootoo as his fast paced game proved to be too much for Madramootoo who never got into the game.
Rudy Grant posted a surprisingly easy win over Berbician Niamatalli as he capitalised on errors by continuously keeping the ball in play. Number one seed Lopes will face off against Grant while number two seed Adams is heading for a matchup against Gilbert Barckoy or Harry Panday in the semifinals.
In Mixed Doubles action on Sunday Krystal Sukra/Phillip Squires turned back the challenge of Berbicians Carol Humphrey/ Anthony Amerally with a 6-3 6-4 win, while top seeds in the Men’s Doubles Jeremy Miller/Jason Andrews started their campaign with a 6-4 6-2 win against brothers Saevion/Seanden David-Longe. The Men’s Singles semifinals also shaped up as Miller, Squires and Gavin Lewis also progressed with easy quarter finals wins.
