South Essequibo and New Line Cavaliers recorded victories as the Guyana Cricket Board twenty\20 tournament continued Sunday at Anna Regina on the Essequibo Coast.
In the first game, New Line Cavaliers defeated South Essequibo by 27 runs. New Line Cavaliers batted first on a pitch which proved difficult for batting and mustered 94-9 off their allotted overs. National U-19 player Anthony Adams and Jason Heyliger claimed 3 and 2 wickets respectively for South who replied with 67-8 in 20 overs.
In the second match South made light work of North Essequibo winning by 59 runs. Anthony Adams with an unbeaten 25 and Kevon Boodie 22 were the principal run getters for South, who after taking first turn at the crease made 147-5 off 20 overs. Royan Federicks picked up 2-23 off 4 overs. North, in reply, folded for 88 in 15.1 overs. Ricardo Adams 3-10, Jason Heyliger 2-10, Anthony Adams 2-13 and Dillon Heyliger 2-13 were the wicket takers for the victors.
