The New Building Society (NBS) Second Division 40-Over Cricket competition
continued in Berbice and
former Berbice Under-17 batsman Trevor Thomas scored 112 for No. 64 Fighting Marines in their victory against Number 59.
Thomas featured in two big partnership (129 for the opening stand with Vickram Ramnandan who scored 29 and 95 for the 5th wicket with Rajesh Adhar, who made 74) to see the Marines to 291 for 6 in 35 Overs. Offspinner Charandat Ramnarine picked up 3 for 48 for No. 59.
When No. 59 replied pacer Jason Itwaru took 6 for 30 from 6.3 Overs and offspinner Sean Persaud 3 for 23 from 7 Overs.
Middle order batsman Keishar Gangaram slammed 69 and Krishan Sobhai 63 to guide Young & Restless of Reliance Abandon in Canje to 281 all out in 35 Overs against Goed Bananen Land at Goed Bananen Land. Abib Zaheer made 29 while Devanand Cyril took 3 for 36 for Goed Bananen Land. When Goed Bananen land batted, Gangaram came back with his off spinners and took 3 for 26 which together with 2 for 14 from Devendra Persaud and 2 for 47 from Dhanesh Gopaul saw Goed Bananen Land falling for 191 with Roy Jugisteer top scoring with 38, leaving Young & Restless victorious by 90 runs.
Rosignol United’s off
spinners, Curtis Moore with 5 for 9 from 4 Overs and Seon Glasgow with 3 for 23 from 7 Overs, routed No. 3 for a paltry 54 in 13 Overs setting up an eventual 7-wicket win for their team.
