Guyana and West Indies left-hander Shivnarine Chanderpaul recorded an unbeaten ton yesterday in his second four-day game for English County Side Warwickshire and is eying a double century heading into the penultimate day today.
After posting disappointing scores of one and duck in his first four-day game, the 37-year-old Chanderpaul finished undefeated on 167 in the first innings against Yorkshire to put his side ahead after batting for just under six hours.

Batting on a deteriorating track with variable bounce Chanderpaul stroked 22 boundaries in his 247 ball innings as his team reached 340-6 replying to Yorkshire’s 297. Tim Ambrose supported Chanderpaul with 67.
After the game Chanderpaul, only behind Brian Lara with Test runs among West Indians, said that batting will only become harder as the game progress.
“The bounce is a bit up and down and it’s only the end of day two; it’s not going to get any better.” Chanderpaul, who scored the last of his 23 Test centuries in his West Indian record 133rd test appearance against India in Dominica last month, said.
Chanderpaul’s innings put Warwickshire ahead by 43 runs going into the third day of the four-day game after the Guyanese who made his Test debut in 1994 at Bourda against England was frustrated by a work permit problem after being available to play more matches for his new team.
Chanderpaul, no longer being considered for ODI and t20 cricket by the West Indies previously played for Durham in the English County championships.
