The West Demerara Cricket Association has named their squad to face East Coast today at the Police ground in the Demerara Inter Association 50-over Under-19 cricket competition.
Chandrika Persaud will Captain the side which is being managed by Rishi Digamber and Coached by Dhanpaul and today’s match is scheduled to commence at 09:00hrs.
Former National under-15 Wicketkeeper Sarfraz Esau, who plays for Malteenoes in Georgetown’s cricket but who has not been included in the City team, has been selected in the West Demerara side.
The first round game involving West Demerara and East Bank which was not played on Saturday at Police due to rain will be replayed while yesterday’s washed out game between East Bank and West Demerara will also be replayed.
East Coast lost to defending champions Georgetown on Saturday at Providence in the only game played so far. This competition is being watched by the Guyana youth selection panel who has been mandated to select the Demerara side for the Inter County tournament due to the yet to be resolved legal issues between the two feuding factions of the Demerara Cricket Board.
Meanwhile, all West Demerara teams and players are reminded that the WDCA’s Pooran Brothers’ sponsored 40-over under-19 Cricket Competition will continue after the Demerara Inter-Association competition is completed.
