An attractive half century by Rawle Smith and a five wicket haul by Iglesias Vanslyutman highlighted the second round of the Igloo Ice cream U-15 50 over cricket competition which continued recently in Essequibo.
In Zone A: At the Wakenaam Community Centre ground, the home team went down to East Bank Essequibo by 7 wickets.
Wakenaam took first strike and made 140 all out in 33 overs. Opener Dinesh Persaud led with 39 (2×4, 2×6), while Lakeram Gobin made 21 and Kemo Paul 16, while extras contributed 33. Ron Chetram picked up 3-31 off 5 overs, while Rawle Smith had 2-21 and Eon Beaton 2-22 off 7 and 6 overs respectively.
The visitors then hit off the required runs in 36 overs ending on 142-3. Smith returned to stroke 51 (7×4) and Chetram supported with 24 (3×4), while extras assisted with 50 as Alex Stephen, Lokram Narine and Kemo Paul took 1 wicket each for the host. The game was reduced to 45 overs due to a late start.
At Enterprise in Leguan, Bartica defeated the home team by 6 wickets. Leguan batted first and were skittled out for 89 in 19 overs. Paul Williams was their leading scorer with 22 and Taran Hardeo made 15 as Safar Khan claimed 4-9 and Romario Lake 2-10.
Bartica in reply made 90-4 in 24 overs. Anesh Harrilall top scored with 25, while Paul Debideen picked up 2-11 for Leguan.
In Zone B, North overcame Central Essequibo by 97 runs and South Essequibo by 97 runs and South Essequibo by 97 runs and South Essequibo got the better of Pomeroon by 12 runs.
Scores: At Anna Regina, North 190 all out in 42 overs. (Shaquille Rigby 36, Devon George 26, Kevin Warner 23, Parmesh Parsatam 3-32, Nathan Persaus 3-12).
Central 93 all out in 28 overs (P. Parsatam 33, Iglesias Vanslyutman 5-24).
At Cotton Field, South 130 all out in 37 overs (Ricardo Peters 25, Raj Parbattie 22, Avinash Persaud 4-20, Reminda Persaud 3-25, andy Stoll 2-30).
Pomeroon 118 all out in 34 oves (R. Persaud 36, Keon Davison 3-22, Randy Mahadeo 3-24, Avinash Deochan 2-18).
