GSKC Karatekas successful at club’s first grading

Senseis Phang, Gibson making their mark
Several Karatekas from the recently established Guyana Shotokan Karate Club (GSKC) were successful when the Brickdam based club held it first grading under 8th Dan Master Frank Woon-a-Tie at the Malteenoes Sports Club.
Senseis Mark Phang and Natalie Gibson are the Instructors at the new club which has its Dojo at the Girl Guides Building in Brickdam and is affiliated with the Guyana Karate Club (GKC) and a member of the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF).
Jordan Kong, Rasheed Kahn-Guzman and Travis Heyliger moved up from 9 kyu-white belts to 8 kyu-yellow belts, while D’Andre Kirton moved from 8 kyu yellow belt to 7 kyu- orange belt.
Quaison Tascher and Tabita Goolsarran skipped from 9 kyu-white belts to be awarded 7 kyu-orange belts.
The Instructors congratulated the successful Karatekas and praised them for also showing visual ways to track their progress. Anyone desirous of joining the club can do so during training days (Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays) from 17:00hrs to 19:00hrs.
