This year’s ‘Women on the Move’ Cancer Race is scheduled to be staged this Sunday, starting from 06:00 hrs in the Mining Town of Linden.
According to a member of the Organising Committee, the race will commence from Jacs Chicken and Fish Shoppe on Republic Avenue move through the community and end at the place of origin.
The race is open to all categories of participants, but will be divided into different age groups ranging from Under-6 to 20 years; 20-29 years; 30-39 years; 40-49 years; 50 years and over, 60 years and over and 70 years and over.
The source revealed that the race will also be open to other categories of participants including those who’re physically incapacitated, the heaviest person to finish the race (male, female) and the largest family to complete the race.
Prizes including trophies will be given to the top three finishers and Digicel is the major sponsor.
Among the other highlight for the programme will be the ‘Awareness Evening’ which is set for Saturday (tomorrow) at the Linden Bus Park, starting from 16:00 hrs.
It was stated that registration for the Race will be done during the evening, but the feature item on the programme will be presentations to be done by resource personnel from the Periwinkle Cancer Club of Georgetown, the Beacon Foundation and the Ministry of Health, while VIA Testing will be conducted.
Persons desirous of taking part in the Race are advised to register early and in the process will receive a free T-Shirt. This is the tenth staging of the event.
