Geron Williams and Marlon Williams will also be competing in cycling at the event that has had a lot of publicity at the Games Village this past week. Greaves said that the modern bike was one that he sourced out of New York at an undisclosed cost.
“I will be competing in the scratch, points and road races at the Games and I will try to do what I can to ensure Guyana comes out on top. I will do my best,” Greaves said at Digicel Head Office upon receiving the racing bike. He also thanked Digicel.
The telecommunications giant’s Public Relations and Sponsorship Manager, Shonnet Moore told the media that the company had been following the career of Greaves closely and noticed that he has had a lot of success, which they wanted to associate with.
“We wanted to help him continue to succeed,” Moore said, adding that Digicel would like him to take his local success to Commonwealth Games. The new machine will certainly help the cyclist fulfil his desire to become a Commonwealth medallist.
