Master Frank Woon-A-Tai 8thDan conducted grading examinations on Saturday May 1, at the Anna Regina Multilateral School and several students performed outstandingly to advance to the next level.
Those promoted included: 7 students were promoted to Yellow belt (8 kyu); 13 students were promoted to Orange belt (7kyu); 13 students were promoted to Green belt(8kyu);
4 students skipped to purple belt (5kyu); 2 students from YMCA Georgetown, who took their exams at Anna Regina, were promoted to Shodan (1st Black).
The outstanding students who skipped grades were Violet Bacchus, Gary Westford, Sarah Hakh and Narendra Jaigopaul.
Promoted to Black belt are Mark Phang and Roger Peroune.
Sensei Amir Khouri, 5th Dan Chief instructor of the Anna Regina Multilateral School Karate Dojo, highlighted that this is a first for the karate school.
This is the third grading exercise since the school opened on March 7, 2009.
Sensei Khouri expressed thanks to Miss Aliya Wong of the Guyana Karate College and Mr. Samuel Ming of the YMCA Karate Dojo for their demonstration of Basic techniques and Kata after the Exams.
Several hard working parents along with Head Mistress of the Anna Regina Multi School, Ms. Ramlakhan also came in for a big thank you for their assistance.
