Play in the Mayor’s Cup football championship will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground with a double header each night starting at 6:00pm. Games yesterday had to be rescheduled due to the heavy rainfall which left the GFC ground under water.
The fixtures remain the same for Tuesday with the Guyana Defence Force coming up against BV Triumph in the opening encounter, with the army side looking to continue their recent victory march after the recent disappointment of being knocked out of the CFU Club championship.
The nightcap at 8:00pm features defending champions Pele coming up against Seawall FC. This promises to be a keenly contested affair with Seawall expected to come at the defending champs hard, while Pele will have all intentions of advancing further in the reckoning to keep their crown and cash in on the $500,000 first prize.
On Wednesday Riddim Squad face Grove Hi Tech and Alpha, after being booted from the CFU Club championship in the second round, tackle Victoria Kings and will hope to refocus and continue their dominance at the local level.
