St Margaret’s Primary School is 75
Amidst boisterous chants of ‘St Margaret’s Primary School, 75 years old’ the children of Grades Four, Five and Six of that institution marched through the streets of Georgetown to round off one month of celebratory activities to commemorate the inauguration of the institution.

Earlier in the day, the children, accompanied by several of their teachers, attended a church service at the St Andrew’s Kirk Church, Stabroek.
At the end of the service the group trooped through the streets starting at the church then east into Brickdam. The pupils then turned north into Alexander Street and into Thomas Street, to Middle Street and then South into the school’s compound on Camp Street.
Co-ordinator of the anniversary committee, Ms. Andrea Isaacs, explained that during the month of activities the pupils were engaged in several educational activities including a spelling bee competition that involved students from Grades One to Six.
Ms. Isaacs believes that it was an enriching experience through which the children were able to learn a lot about their school during its early days.
A pictorial exhibition was also mounted in the schoolyard depicting the activities and accomplishments of the school over the years.
