Bread and pastry giant Bakewell has maintained their commitment to Linden club Topp XX. Yesterday, Finance Manager Imran Ally presented a cheque to club Secretary at the company’s Triumph Head office to assist in their preparations for this year’s Kashif and Shanghai tournament which is set to kick off on Sunday at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
Bakewell Topp XX is the most successful club in the Kashif and Shanghai football tournament having won five times while reaching the finals on eight occasions.
Speaking on behalf of Bakewell, General Manager Rajin Ganga expressed their delight at continuing support of Topp XX which he said is year round and not only at this time of year.
“As you know we have been supporting Bakewell Topp XX for quite a number of years and we are committed to maintaining this support. This club has done very well for themselves over the years and we are proud of their achievements. We are hoping that this year they can actually walk away with the first prize.”
Club President Claude Beckles lauded Bakewell for their continued show of commitment in investing in Bakewell Topp XX over the years. Beckles said their unflinching support of the club has helped them to maintain a high level of consistency over the years.
“I would like to say thanks to Bakewell for all they have been doing for us over the years and we promise that this year will be a better year than last year in terms of our showing at the Kashif and Shanghai.” Topp XX, while not being the top Linden team over the past two seasons will be at full strength for the 20th edition of the K&S competition.
The likes of Collie ‘Hitman’ Hercules, Kayode McKinnon, Richard ‘Loddo’ Reynolds, Carey Harris and Javin Crawford will be in the reckoning for this year’s historic tournament.
The team has been undergoing intense preparations at the Linden Technical Institute ground under the watchful eyes of Coach Kayode McKinnon.
