Elderly woman receives pampering and proper foot care
A Health Fair for the Elderly was held at the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security and several pensioners enjoyed the services that were offered.
They were subjected to Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar tests, Body Mass Index (BMI), Dental Care, Foot Care, Nutritional Counseling and HIV Testing.
According to the assistant Chief Probation and Social Services Officer, Deendayal Singh,
this parcel is part of Month of the Elderly activities which signify the beginning of a month-long celebration.
“October is the month of the Elderly throughout the world. This year we plan to take care of their health with medical check ups”
Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security collaborated in a joint effort to show care for the Elderly; especially acknowledging their contribution to our country.
“As citizens of the country grow older we need for them to have check ups to show them how to take care of their lives, we at the Ministry look after people from birth unto death and we also pay pensioners water subsidy while helping with funeral services,” said Singh
Over time assistance to the senior citizens included prosthesis legs, spectacles and free medical attention at Government institutions. They also get free passes on Government Ferry services.
