Dear Editor,
I am more convinced than ever that the ruling PPP/C is not a party to be trusted.
It seems to me that the party has made our National Assembly a talk shop, something we knew all along.
A few weeks ago, the Opposition through its leader Robert Corbin had requested.
The Parliament to deal with the revelations coming out in the trial of Robert Simels as a matter of urgent national importance.
That request was denied by the Speaker, who reasoned to the effect that such an issue was not important enough to engage the National Assembly at that time.
The Opposition walked out and is refusing to engage in the process of Parliament until the matter is resolved.
Now a few days ago, Dr. Roger Luncheon at a press conference called on the opposition to return to Parliament to discuss the same issue.
Is it because the matter has gotten too hot for the PPP/C to handle or is it because they now feel that they have done enough propaganda to diffuse the issue?
No amount of political posturing by the PPP/C could erase the perception that the party is linked to illegal unsavory characters.
Is this the same PPP/C that we rely upon to govern us? Michael Anthony
