On June 20, 1984 Guyana National Football Team under the captaincy of Gordon ‘Ultimate Warrior’ Braithwaite contested a historical match against the Indian National Football Team. The venue was the world famous G.C.C, Bourda.
The Indians deplaned Timehri International Airport with the confidence of a three one trouncing of Caribbean Power House Trinidad & Tobago a few days earlier, but found the Guyanese a lot tougher after a goalless first halt.
Coach Lennox Arthur introduced the artistic Julian Moe who gave the Indians a Football lesson in Midfield although Terrence Archer opened the scoring for the Land of Many Waters. Julian Moe was the man that left an indelible mark on the out come of the match, with magic like moves he found the back of the net twice as Guyana triumph 3 nil and at the same time exacting revenge for Sister Caricom Member Trinidad & Tobago and restoring Caribbean Football pride.
The historical Guyana starting team was: Gordon Braithwaite (Captain), Gerald Austin Williams (Goalkeeper), Leonard Williams, Anthony Williams, Aubrey Hutson, Neil 0’Choa, Roger Alphonso, Bunny Anthony, Neville Johnson, Terrence Archer , Rupert Gordon.
Reserves: Kenrick Wiltshire (goalkeeper), Julian Moe, Clyde Fraser, Selwyn Hutson, Elson Hinckson, Trevor Maxwell.
