Defending Berbice under 19 champions Rose Hall Town Pepsi ‘A’ would have to pull out all the stops when they face Scottsburg in the finals of the Gilegous Pawn Shop 10th anniversary under 19 twenty20 competition at the Area ‘H’ ground tomorrow.
The final was originally scheduled for next Wednesday but the organisers took a decision to bring it forward to tomorrow.
With both teams displaying encouraging form, it would be difficult to predict a winner but with home advantage o their side, RHT Pepsi will start as favourite.
RHT Pepsi boasts a strong all round line up on paper with Berbice junior players Eon Hooper, Terrence Madramatoo, Naresh Mahadeo along with national under 15 batsman Dominic Rickey leading the batting lineup. Support will come from Stephen Lewis, Lionel Lewis and Simon Lawson.
Meduim pacers Terrence Madramootoo and Lionel Lewis would share the new ball with back up from spinners Hooper, Mahadeo, Mark Fernandes and Leon Crawford on a pitch noted for its assistance to the slower bowlers.
Scottsburgs’ chances rests heavily on the shoulders of national under 19 wicket keeper Anthony Bramble and Berbice under 19 batsman Alex Amsterdam, their main batters supported by Marlon Harvey, Mark Lionel and Ryan Ramdass.
The bowling department will be spearheaded by the Harvey brothers, Amsterdam, Akaram Razack and Mark Lionel. The victorious team would pocket $30.000 in sports gears along with a trophy while the runners up would receive $20.000.00 in gears.
Managing Director of Gilegous Pawn Shop Orin Battice is expected to meet the teams before the start of the match. The finalists would be outfitted in special tee shirts for tomorrow final.
