Camptown beat Flamingo 2-0, Western get WO from Beacon

Rivalry in the Milo sponsored under-21 football competition in the city continued yesterday afternoon at two venues.
At the Camptown ground in Campbellville, the home team defeated Flamingo 2-0 in the only game played. The first encounter should have brought together BK International Western Tigers and Beacon but the latter failed to show up handing Western full points without breaking a sweat.
In the main game, Sunburst Camptown led by goals either side of play from Telson McKinnon in the 8th minute and Cordell Johnson in the 82nd took full points from Flamingo, who never threatened in the attacking third of the field.
Both teams looked a bit ring rusty since competitive football has not been played for a long time but Camptown, who looked the better of the two teams all-round were able to put together multiple passes on a consistent basis.
A few more scoring opportunities did come their way but went wide of the mark. As the competition heats up in the coming weeks, the level of play is also expected to improve.
Over at the Tucville ground only one of the two scheduled games were played, Santos and Riddim Squad battling to a nil all stalemate.
Action will continue on Tuesday with Georgetown Football Club playing host to the University of Guyana and over at Tucville, Western Tigers come up against the Guyana Defence Force. Both matches kick off at 16:15hrs.
