Dear Editor,
It is so ironic that only last week the Walk For Life was carried out all across the United States for those voiceless children — millions of them — who are aborted and murdered every single year through abortions that the Guyana Responsible Parenthood Association (GRPA) is praising President Obama’s lifting of the ban on funding to abortion clinics around the world.
The ban was instituted by President Reagan during his tenure and reversed by President Clinton. President George W. Bush once again reinstituted the ban after he took office in 2001 and now, eight years after, U.S. President Barack Obama signed an executive order last week — media not being invited — lifting the eight-year ban, giving more money to these abortion clinics worldwide to perform more abortions as it were.
The GRPA glorifies this decision because it will, in effect, get more money to counsel people and provide information with regards to the options they have to terminate their unwanted pregnancy and even finance the procedures.
Where has the respect for human life gone these days? We hear about the value of human life, that we should respect human life, but this begs the question if human life is that really important. Maybe “a piece of flesh” — as they refer to the embryos — is not human life; maybe God didn’t create that – so we can destroy.
Perhaps no other organisation has fought and has been fighting and will continue to safeguard the sanctity of human life than the Roman Catholic Church. I can hardly hear other religious groups voice their calls for an end to killing innocent children. It was the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), the Catholic network, which has been propelling through its television, radio and internet networks the vibrant Pro-Life movement in the United States.
The press release by the GRPA representative Sheila Yaw- Fraser’s use of euphemisms like “(medical) termination (of pregnancy)” rather than to say ‘murdering innocent children’ and ‘aborting’ them is rather disgusting.
I have nothing but respect for President Obama, and it was no surprise that his administration would’ve lifted such a ban, as the Democratic Party is a pro-choice party and one which respects women’s rights to choose for themselves whether to keep or terminate their pregnancy. All being said, we can use all the nice terms we want but in the end it is really an act of murder — nothing less.
We here in Guyana must stand up and condemn this act of barbarism on innocent unborn babies whom God Himself created, not to be put to death but to be brought into this world to live the life God meant for them to live. Why should these innocent lives pay for the poor decisions that were made by their mothers and fathers prior to conception? A life is a life; if not, then we should stop being hypocritical and say that it’s okay for someone to murder someone else to gain satisfaction or to get out of an undesirable situation. I pray for the millions of lives lost every single year to abortions. May God have mercy on those who kill them.
