Bhatia keeps Knight riders unbeaten
CPL – The Trinbago Knight Riders made light work of the Jamaica Empress in Match 3 of the Limacol WCPL at Kensington Oval on Thursday.
TKR maintained their unbeaten start to the competition with a dominant nine-wicket victory over the new franchise, reaching their target with 53 balls to spare.
The run chase was expertly orchestrated by Yastika Bhatia, who opened the innings and remained unbeaten on a superb 57 from 34 balls.
The Knight Riders’ only casualty was Laura Harris, who was stumped after being beaten by a sharply turning delivery from Nonkululeko Mlaba.

By the time Harris departed at 35/1 at the end of the fifth over, however, TKR were already well on their way to a second consecutive victory. Captain Deandra Dottin then joined Bhatia at the crease and smashed 22 from 15 deliveries, with the pair putting together an unbeaten 69-run second-wicket partnership to seal the win.
Earlier, the Knight Riders’ bowlers had laid the foundation for the emphatic victory after Jamaica Empress were sent in to bat.
The Empress suffered an early setback, losing two wickets from successive deliveries in the second over, including the prized scalp of former Australia captain Meg Lanning.
Rashada Williams provided some resistance with a patient 40 from 47 balls, but found little support around her as the Empress struggled to build momentum. They eventually finished on 100/9 from their 20 overs.
Chinelle Henry, who starred in the Empress’ thrilling victory in their debut match, remained unbeaten on 22.
For the Knight Riders, Player of the Match Karishma Ramharack bowled with impressive control, claiming 3/11 from her four overs to spearhead a disciplined bowling effort.
The Knight Riders will next face the Guyana Amazon Warriors, while the Empress, who have a game in hand, will look to bounce back against the Barbados Tridents in their next outing.
