(Kaieteur News) – Guyana Amazon Warriors blew both opportunities to secure a place in the final after a majestic, second hundred this season from Shimron Hetmyer failed to propel his team in what was considered arguably the most entertaining, competitive battle all season versus the Jamaica Kingsmen, who rallied to a 5-wicket win as part of last night’s Qualifier 2 night’s thriller played at the Kensington Oval.
In what seemed like the finals already this season, Amazon Warriors posted a massive total of 206-4 in their 20 overs in an innings which was completely dominated by an extraordinary, unbeaten century from Shimron Hetmyer.

His second ton of the tournament, another majestic knock was a breathtaking 102 off a mere 45 balls.
Hetmyer anchored the middle-order and accelerated furiously, hitting 4 boundaries and 8 massive sixes at a staggering strike rate of 226.67 to steal the spotlight and end his season; as one of the more dominant batters of the 2026 edition.
Mr. Cool Shai Hope provided crucial support with a steady 40 off 33 (2×4 2×6), rebuilding the innings alongside Hetmyer after the early departures which initially left them reeling at 20-2.
Quentin Sampson continued to provide the boost needed with a brisk knock of 29 off 17 (1×4 2×6) as the Kingsmen bowling suffered.

Kingsmen, who in the end batted fearlessly during their chase to end on 207-5, were led by opener Maaz Sadaqat (41), Kirk McKenzie (34), top-scorer Keacy Carty who batted exceptional for 56 (5×4 3×6) along with former Warrior Saim Ayub (23); who took the pressure off the chase.
The back end of the innings saw skipper Rovman Powell slamming 40 off 17 (2×4 4×6), showing all his experience during the intense stages which saw his team finish on 207-5 in 19.4 overs .

Powell, alongside Andre Russell (2) who failed but aided in taking the required deficit down to almost a run-a-ball before he unfortunately fell with 4 deliveries left with 4 needed for a win, still did his part.
With the stage set at 2 runs from balls after Romario Shepherd removed Russell before Hassan Khan (4*) ran the best 2 runs of his life after clipping the pacer through mid-wicket as he and his captain scurried to not only their biggest win this season but the most entertaining, record-setting match of the tournament.
