(Kaieteur News) – Softball cricket players and fans are in for a treat as Guyana’s Biggest Open Softball Cricket Tournament is set to be Bigger and Better in the third edition of the “One Guyana Inter-Region Ten10 Softball Cricket Cup” which is slated for 15th October to 18th September 2026.
Organised by RS Sports, the nationwide tournament returns bigger and better, with competition once again in both Male and Female categories, and over $5 million in cash and prizes up for grabs.
The “One Guyana Inter-Region Ten10 Softball Cricket Cup” tournament has established itself as a grassroots sporting competition that brings together players from different communities, backgrounds, and age groups, while giving local talent a chance to compete for the honour of representing their respective regions at the national level.
One of the major developments for this year’s tournament is the organisers’ continued effort to expand participation into Guyana’s interior regions.
According to the management of RS Sports, they are working to ensure that Amerindian brothers and sisters from Regions 1, 7, 8 and 9 have an opportunity to participate and showcase their softball cricket talents on the national stage.
According to RS Sports, there is significant softball cricket talent in the interior that has not always had the opportunity to compete nationally.
The organisation said it is committed to creating greater opportunities for those players and ensuring that teams from the interior can proudly represent their regions in this year’s competition.
The organisers said that the tournament is being played at the grassroots level, with preliminary and regional matches being hosted at various community grounds across Guyana, and will see local players competing against each other, with the successful regional winners advancing to the National Playoffs.
“This tournament is not only about the cricket at the local level, but also the aim of the tournament is to bring our villagers in one place and to create that unity which is needed amongst our people.
Over the past two editions, the tournament has attracted spectators from all walks of life, turning community cricket grounds into places where families, friends and communities come together to enjoy the sport and support their local players.
RS Sports believes that softball cricket at the grassroots level is an important stepping stone for players to develop their skills, gain exposure, and potentially progress into hardball cricket and higher levels of the sport.
This year’s tournament is set to see the winner in the regional male category walking away with $100,000 and a trophy, while prizes will be awarded to the runner-up, best bowler, best batter, MVP, and player of the final.
In the female category, the winner will take away $50,000 and a trophy, while other prizes will be awarded to the runner-up, best bowler, best batter, MVP, and player of the final.
In the national playoffs, the Winner in the men’s category will take home $1.3 million and the winning trophy; the runner-up $300,000 and trophy; the Player of the Tournament (MVP) $70,000 and trophy, along with other prizes: Player of the final $30,000 and trophy, Best bowling figure in an innings $20,000 and a trophy, Batsman with the highest individual score $20,000 and trophy.
While in the women’s playoffs, the winner will take home $500,000 and the winning trophy; the runner-up $200,000 and trophy; the Player of the Tournament (MVP) with $50,000 and trophy, along with other prizes; Player of the Final $30,000 and trophy; Best bowling figure in an innings $20,000 and trophy; Batsman with the highest individual score $20,000 and trophy.
The tournament runs from 18th October to 15th November, 2026, and games will be played at various community grounds across the regions, while the national playoffs are set for 14th and 15th November.
The organisers said that it’s about taking the tournament to the people, and the playoffs were held in Regions 5 and 6; this year, the playoffs will be played in Region 3.
The National Playoffs are expected to feature a spectacular programme of cultural entertainment and family activities, making the event more than just a cricket competition.
The organisers said the National Playoffs will once again be family-oriented, with a variety of side attractions and activities planned for spectators.
RS Sports is inviting communities, businesses, cricket fans and families across Guyana to come out, support their regional teams and be part of what the organisers describe as a celebration of cricket, culture, community and One Guyana.
According to the organisers, the continued growth of the One Guyana Inter-Region Ten10 Softball Cricket Cup cannot be achieved without strong partnerships.
RS Sports is calling on Corporate Guyana, the public sector, private businesses, and national stakeholders to become partners in the development of softball cricket and community sport.
The organisers said that this tournament provides sponsors with a unique opportunity to connect directly with communities across all ten administrative regions, promote healthy lifestyles, support youth and female participation, and contribute to a national sporting initiative that delivers measurable social and economic benefits.
Supporting the tournament is not simply sponsoring cricket, it is investing in community development, national unity, and the continued growth of one of Guyana’s most popular grassroots sports.
The 3rd One Guyana Inter-Region Ten10 Softball Cricket Cup is expected to generate significant national attention and attract extensive participation from players and supporters throughout the country.
Registration will commence in early October 2026, and the entrance fee is $20,000 per team.
With millions of dollars in prizes, regional pride at stake, new opportunities for interior players, and a strong focus on community unity, the stage is set for another major chapter in Guyana’s grassroots softball cricket.
“This is more than just a Tournament. It is A Celebration of Talent. It is A Celebration of Togetherness. A Celebration of Sports & It is A Celebration of One Guyana.”
