30 schools to battle for Samaroo Investment Secondary Schools Tapeball trophy
Kaieteur Sports – Thirty secondary schools are set to battle for supremacy today when the Uprising Promotion Group stages its second weekend of action with the Samaroo Investment-sponsored Secondary School Tapeball Cricket Competition at the National Cultural Centre (NCC) tarmac.
With the race for the coveted championship title set to reach its climax, the tournament promises a full day of competitive Secondary School Tapeball action as some of the nation’s brightest young cricketers look to leave their mark on the pitch.
The first ball is scheduled to be bowled at 9:00 a.m., with matches continuing throughout the afternoon as teams fight through the knockout rounds in pursuit of championship glory.
A total of 30 secondary schools registered for this year’s competition, highlighting the growing popularity of the tournament and the continued enthusiasm for school-level Tapeball cricket across Guyana.
The competition is organised by the Uprising Promotion Group, formerly known as the Georgetown Office Assistant Promotion Committee (GOAPC), under the coordination of veteran organiser James “Uprising” Lewis, whose initiative continues to provide a valuable platform for young cricketers to showcase their talents.
Beyond team honours, individual excellence will also be rewarded. Special prizes will be presented to the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), while the eventual champions will receive top honours along with a host of additional awards sponsored by Samaroo Investment.
