Govt. to spend $180M to construct Honey Laboratory at GLDA
(Kaieteur News) – The Ministry of Agriculture intends to construct a Honey Laboratory for the Guyana Livestock Development Authority located at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara.
The project which is estimated to cost $180,928,829 was opened recently at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office, where two bids were received.
According to an invitation for bids, the government of Guyana has received financing from the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF), toward the cost of the Agricultural Infrastructure Development Programme (AIDP). The document stated that part of the funds will be used to finance the honey laboratory project.
In relation to the Agricultural Infrastructure Development Programme, Guyana received US$18 million from CDB. An agreement for this was signed back in June 2025.
The document said the construction and installation period of the project is eight months.
