Kaieteur Sports – Momentum is building in the National Schools Basketball Festival’s Regional Conference, with the Georgetown-City division springing to life with another exciting weekend at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. The Bishops’ High ‘A’, Marian Academy, and St Rose’s High all recorded convincing victories in an entertaining Sunday showcase.
The few vocal supporters in attendance were treated to three high-scoring encounters, highlighted by a dominant showing from Bishops’ High ‘A’, who overwhelmed their ‘B’ side 49–12. Eli Archer delivered a standout double-double performance, finishing with 11 points and 13 rebounds to spearhead the 37-point rout. He was well supported by Yisdalayah Yisreal, who contributed 11 points, nine rebounds, and four steals in an all-around effort. Despite the heavy defeat, Nkosi Griffith battled hard for Bishops’ ‘B’, ending with seven points and 10 rebounds.
In the second matchup, Marian Academy cruised to a 37-point win over School of the Nations, powered by the impressive duo of Lucas Pinol and Nhyl George. Pinol controlled the tempo throughout, registering 14 points and 11 rebounds for a composed double-double. George complemented the effort with 12 points and nine rebounds, as Marian asserted their dominance on both ends of the court.
The final game of the evening produced another offensive display, with St Rose’s High defeating Queen’s College by 16 points. Shaquan Callendar led the charge with a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Christian Williams added a game-high 15 points. Jeremy Chung also made a valuable contribution, tallying 11 points and nine rebounds to secure the 44-28-point win.
With competition already underway in both the City and Ancient Conferences, the NSBF qualifiers are shaping up to be one of the most exciting editions of the Youth Basketball Guyana circuit.
