Despite inclement weather matches in NSC, MCY&S Janet and Cheddi Jagan Windball Cricket competition in Region 6 played
Kaieteur Sports – The National Sports Commission, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport 11th edition of the Janet and Cheddi Jagan Windball Cricket competition continued with matches on the Corentyne.
The competition which is organised by Senior Sports Officer Allister Munroe saw matches being played in the Region 6 Corentyne Zone.
The inclement weather again interrupted matches which were being played at the John Port Mourant Community Centre Ground.
Players with former West Indies player and a student who played Windball Cricket at Lower Corentyne Secondary, Treymane Smart, with some of the girls before the semi finals.
Results of games in the Cheddi Jagan boys’ competition:- Lower Corentyne Secondary batting first and made 90-2, off their 5 overs with Natheniel Ramsammy 69 (6sx9) and Jaden Ganpat 12.
J C Chandisingh Secondary in reply 31-5 with Shahid Tinbhowan 13.
In another game, Skeldon Line Path Secondary booked their place in the final after defeating Tagore Memorial Secondary.
Skeldon Line Path choose to bat first and made 59-2. Solomon Hercules 28 and Rahul Lambert 10.
Tagore Memorial in reply were restricted to 32-3 with Lovendra Ashadat contributing 13.
The other schools advancing to the semifinals are Lower Corentyne Secondary and Manchester Secondary.
Janet Jagan girls, semifinals results – Defending Region 6 champions Lower Corentyne Secondary marched into the finals after defeating Manchester Secondary.
Lower Corentyne batted first and made 61-2 with Dallia Lowe 26.
Manchester Secondary in reply 37-4, Presca Glasgow 10. Naiomi Gibson took 2 wickets bowling for the winners.
In another game-Tagore Memorial Secondary batted first and made 20.
Winifred Gaskin Memorial Secondary replied with 21-1. Roxann Benn scored 10. (Samuel Whyte)
