(Kaieteur News) – The Ministry of Health is currently seeking bids for the construction of a new Dorothy Bailey Health Centre in Georgetown.
This is according to an invitation for bids published on April 24, 2026 in the Kaieteur News which state that bids are expected to open at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) on May 14, 2026.
Kaieteur News reported that during the sod turning ceremony for the Campbellville Polyclinic in March last year, Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony announced the government’s plans to upgrade the Dorothy Bailey Health Centre.
“The Dorothy Bailey Health Centre is also being upgraded this year (2025) with the government allocating $55 million to improve the facility and ensure that patients receive the care they deserve in better conditions,” he said at the time.
The government, through the ministry, has been upgrading the facilities to ensure that patients receive the best health care.
Minister Anthony stated also that the construction and renovation of health centres are part of the government’s broader efforts to decentralise and expand healthcare services provided to Guyanese.
Further several regional hospitals have been built and others are being constructed to provide specialised care to residents.
