President Irfaan Ali and new British High Commissioner to Guyana Joseph Guy Fisher (both center) along with other officials at the office of the president.
(Kaieteur News) – President Irfaan Ali on Wednesday accepted the Letters of Credence from the new British High Commissioner to Guyana, His Excellency Joseph Guy Fisher, MBE, at the Office of the President.
According to a brief statement posted on the Office of the President’s Facebook page, the head of state and the new British envoy discussed avenues to expand and deepen bilateral relations with emphasis on healthcare, education, security, climate change, biodiversity, environmental services, tourism and infrastructure.
Guyana and the United Kingdom established diplomatic relations on 26 May 1966, the day Guyana attained independence.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugh Todd, also attended the meeting.
