Kaieteur Sports – Organiser of the Massy Distribution Secondary Schools Under-18 Football Championship, Petra Organisation, is hoping to resume proceeding during this week following the postponement over the weekend, which was forced by inclement weather.
On Saturday, Petra released a brief statement: “Due to consistent rain fall we are unable to proceed with games today and tomorrow. We are hoping to do so on Wednesday, 1st April, and Thursday, 2nd April. This confirmation will be made on Monday, 30th March.”
However, with continued showers featured on the weather forecast, the resumption dates may be tentatively chosen.
A total of 16 round-two matches and a round three showdown billed for the Queen’s College Ground were put on hold as the race for qualification heated up after an interesting line of results. Following a thrilling opening round, several teams have already laid down early markers. Spots in the knockout round remain open for the stakes nestled at the end of the tunnel.
While only the top four teams will claim prizes, finishing in the top eight secures entry into the Petra’s League Championship, offering a pathway to the Republic Bank U18 League and a chance for two schools to represent Guyana at the KFC International Series.
